Fashion Sorcery: Sourcing at MAGIC

The MAGIC Trade Show was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 17-19, 2015. MAGIC is bi-yearly, and has ten platforms of trades for the fashion industry. During the trade show, there is an overwhelming amount of clothing, accessories, and shoe vendors. With addition to their counterparts of service providers. Let's also not forget the daily seminars, events, and highlighted booths. Out of the ten specialties, our focus was directed at the Sourcing at MAGIC.

Sourcing at MAGIC starts one day ahead, on the 16th, out of the other platforms is the epicenter for designers and brands resourcing needs. Exhibitors in  manufacturing, production, materials, and technology were from all over the world. Various events, and seminars provided insightful knowledge, to the direction to where fashion is heading. If you are an emerging designer, this is definitely the place to start in the beginning phase.

One of the events that we were looking forward to the most, was held on Monday, February 16th, 2015. MAGIC Trend Forecaster, and Woodbury University Professor, Wendy Bendoni (@bendonistyle) discussed social media and fashion forecasting. It was exciting gaining expert information, from her.
We have been following her on social media for a few years, and we were so delighted to meet her at The Source community lounge! The following event in the community lounge featured Soldsie, giving  insightful business tips for Instagram.

The American Made Movement seminar, featured successful startups catering to the made in USA consumers. The guest speakers included, Bob Bland of Manufacture New York, Blaine Vossler co-founder of The Local Branch, and Matthew Burnett of  Maker's Row. The panel discussed how easy it is to manufacture and produce domestically in the United States.

On Tuesday, February 17th, 2015, Another great event was held in The Source community lounge.  In attendance, were Hollywood Stylists Daniel Musto(@danielmusto), Fashion Correspondent for The Insider, and stylist for NBC's fashion star.  Joe Kucharski (@TyrannyOfStyle) , Editor of Tyranny of Style, Costume Designer, and assistant professor at Baylor University.  The stylists to the Stars graciously greeted attendees, and gave advice on each varying fashion inquiries.

Fashion Snoops held their seminar on global trend forecast for Spring/Summer 2016. Their trend forecast discussed  color pallettes, fabrics and textures,  silhouettes,  and overall styles for next year!
The following seminar featured panelists, Ara Katz co-founder of  the latest popular shopping app Spring, along with Mark Evans of Brand Garage. The two shared the latest social media and tech trends.

In the midst of working our way through Sourcing, plus attending events and seminars. Designated special featured booths, had the latest must see trends. The highlights included the Aztex Denim Trend Area from Mexico, and other global artisans. Live screen printing demonstrations, China business lounge, Fashion Snoops trend gallery, and Pantone Color Lounge.
